California Advocates Lobbyist and Lawyer Michael Belote

Lobbyist Mike Belote is a paid, stealth lobbyist for the California Judges Association. As a lobbyist, one of Mike's duties is to discredit the perceived enemies of his clients. Did we mention Mike is a lobbyist?

At one legislative hearing in Sacramento, Mike attempted to discredit the testimony of more than 20 victims of judge misconduct. Mike did that by, in essence, suggesting that the whistleblowers were simply disgruntled litigants who had lost in court

Mike disparages the victims of incompetent, indifferent and corrupt judges - many of whom suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other mental health issues - because he is paid by the California Judges Association to protect and defend judges, even bad judges.

Mike also tried to interfere with a judge recall effort in Contra Costa County by filing a frivolous complaint with the Fair Political Practices Commission. The FPPC told Mike to take a hike.

Capitol Weekly recognized Mike as one of the "Top 100 for 2018."

Welcome to the 10th running of Capitol Weekly’s Top 100 list, our annual look at people who aren’t elected to office but who wield decisive influence on California politics or policy — or both.

It is our great pleasure to announce that CALSPro’s Legislative Advocate, Mike Belote, was recently named as one of Capitol Weekly’s Top 100 for 2018, an annual look at “people who aren’t elected to office but who wield decisive influence on California politics or policy — or both.”
